Planning Notes
Do I Need a Wedding Coordinator If My Venue Already Has One?

To be honest with you… this is one of the questions I get asked the most.
And I completely get it.
You’ve booked this gorgeous venue, they’ve told you they have a wedding coordinator, so you’re thinking…
“Well… surely that’s one less supplier I need to pay for?”
Sometimes… yes.
Sometimes… not quite.
Let me explain.
First Things First
A venue coordinator and an independent wedding coordinator aren’t competing with each other.
They’re actually on the same team.
We just have very different jobs.
What Your Venue Coordinator Does
Your venue coordinator is there for… well… the venue.
They’re making sure everything at the venue runs like clockwork. Things like:
- ✨ Your ceremony room is ready.
- ✨ Dinner is served on time.
- ✨ The bar’s stocked.
- ✨ The staff know what’s happening.
- ✨ The venue is doing exactly what it should.
And honestly? They’re brilliant at it.
What I Do
Me? I’m there for you.
Not the venue. Not the caterers. Not the florist.
You.
Which means if you’re suddenly panicking because you’ve forgotten your vows… I’m there.
If your buttonhole has disappeared… I’m finding it.
If your florist is stuck in traffic… I’m already on the phone.
If your bridesmaid is crying because she’s ripped her dress… I’ve probably already got a safety pin in my pocket.
(Seriously… I carry everything. 😂)
Think of It Like This
Imagine you’re throwing the biggest party you’ve ever hosted.
The venue makes sure the lights are on, the drinks are flowing and everyone’s fed.
I’m the person making sure you actually get to enjoy your own party.
“But Won’t My Venue Coordinator Do That?”
Maybe.
Some venues are absolutely incredible. Some coordinators go above and beyond.
But they also have a venue to run.
They’ve got staff to manage.
Food service to oversee.
Maybe another event happening.
Hotel guests checking in.
Their attention has to be spread across the whole venue.
Mine doesn’t.
Mine stays exactly where it should… on you.
So… Do You Need Both?
Honestly? Not always.
If you’re having a really simple wedding with only a handful of suppliers, your venue might be all you need.
But if you’ve got…
- 🎶 Live entertainment
- 🌸 Lots of suppliers
- 🐶 A dog walking down the aisle (my favourite kind of wedding)
- ✨ DIY décor
- 👨👩👧 Family members helping set up
…or you simply don’t want to spend your wedding morning answering twenty questions…
Then having someone whose only job is looking after you can make all the difference.
If I Can Leave You With One Thing
Don’t book a wedding coordinator because TikTok told you to.
Don’t book one because your friend had one.
Book one because you want to actually enjoy your wedding day.
Because, to be honest with you… you only get to do it once.
I’d much rather you’re on the dance floor with a drink in your hand than wondering whether the cake’s arrived.
Thinking About On-the-Day Coordination?
If you’re planning a relaxed wedding in Dorset and wondering whether you’d benefit from an extra pair of hands, let’s have a chat.
No awkward sales calls. No pressure.
Just an honest conversation about whether I’m actually the right fit for you.
